The city is very green and easy to enjoy outdoors. Hagley Park is a huge central park perfect for walking, sports, and picnics by the river. Within a short drive you can reach the beaches and hills of Banks Peninsula, ski fields in the Southern Alps, hiking trails, and scenic coast. Outdoor activities all year-round!

Residents have access to public healthcare, including emergency and specialist services at Christchurch Hospital, one of the main hospitals in the South Island. There are also numerous GP clinics and community health services around the city.
